About
Charlie Trumbull

I have been curious my entire life. I have always had my nose in a book, searching for what made the world turn. As long as I could read I’ve been writing. Since elementary school I’ve written fiction and poetry before finding a love for journalism in college. I hold three degrees in English, history, and journalism from three amazing Michigan institutions Throughout my education I have kept a keen eye on politics, getting involved in social movements on campuses and in my community. In 2019, I joined a grassroots-funded congressional campaign as the Director of Communications and Public Relations. While the candidate ultimately lost to the incumbent, we were proud to boast a team of over 500 volunteers and we garnered over 20% of votes. While in school I also joined multiple news teams and won state level awards for my journalism. As the Editor in Chief of the White Pine Press I led my team to win first place in general excellence and design at the Michigan Community College Press Association Awards. Ten years later while working with the Washtenaw Voice I won first place for my comic strip from the same awarding body. Art has been a part of my life as long as telling stories, so I offer commentary and short stories through my comic strips and often create digital graphics to join my reporting. In my free time I write and illustrate historical fiction graphic novels, read over 100 books annually, and can be found cuddling any of my six cats.

  • Yes, I am currently seeking employment as a writer, political advocate, and comic designer. My work on this blog showcases my broad array of writing styles as well as my dedication to historical facts in the face of modern politics. My art is pretty cool too, if I do say so myself.

  • I have an A.A. in English from Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude. Next, I gained a B.A. in History and Judaic Studies from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I stayed in Ann Arbor for my A.A. in Journalism from Washtenaw Community College. I plan to continue my education at a Master’s or Doctoral level in the near future.

  • When it comes to political fairness and justice for all, it is difficult to narrow down which causes I find most important. Those which are closest to me include LGBTQIA+ inclusion, Autism and other neurodivergency awareness, humane immigration policies, climate change research funding, and, above all else, keeping America from falling to fascism from within.
